BYRON “MAC” McKINNEY (deceased) RETIRED FROM THE U.S. NAVY AND WENT TO WORK FOR BUCK KNIVES WHERE HE WAS A CHARTER MEMBER ESTABLISHING BUCK’S CUSTOM KNIFE SHOP. IN ADDITION TO HIS CUSTOM KNIFE MAKING HE WAS ALSO AN ARTIST AND PAINTED THE “H. H. BUCK AT HIS KANSAS BLACKSMITH SHOP” PAINTING WHICH HUNG IN THE LOBBY OF THE BUCK KNIVES COMPANY WHEN IT WAS IN EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA. BYRON LATER ESTABLISHED “CATAWBA U.S.A. HANDCRAFTED KNIVES” AS AN OUTLET TO SELL HIS PERSONAL CREATIONS.
